The MSW Enhanced Transmission Mounts are a perfect match to our Enhanced Engine Mounts. Made of the same high-temp rubber and matched durometer (68A) to our engine mounts.
MSW’s Take: We’ve found that solid engine and trans mounts can create unwanted stress to the fragile aluminum ears and mounts. We’ve broken several due to attacking curbs hard or off-track excursions. These failures are race ending. Using a solid rubber mount like these can save your race.
We use these mounts on all of our endurance race car builds and many of our sprint race cars. Solid mounts disadvantages often outweigh their benefits, and polyurethane mounts are often brittle and fail.
For a race, track, or performance car we recommend pairing these mounts with our Enhanced Engine Mounts. They can also be paired with new OEM engine mounts for only a slight increase in NVH.Â
Made from NBR rubber, with a straight cylindrical shape. There is no through-bolt or external cup, which are a poor design and lead to unwanted stresses and NVH.
A 5mm thick aluminum spacer is included for both mounts. Keep this spacer in place to achieve stock height or remove for reduced height (5mm is max allowed in Spec E46).
NOTE: These do not have the small indentation for the alignment pin found on the cast aluminum OE transmission crossmembers. This alignment pin is unnecessary, and can simply be ground flush. An even better solution is to upgrade to AAF’s heavy duty transmission crossmember, which does not have this small pin.
