The ZF 320 5-speed transmission is one of the most popular manual transmissions used in track and race BMWs. Found in the E36 M3 and 328i, the E46 328i and 330i, as well as the Z3 28i and M Roadster/Coupe. It is also a common swap for E46 M3s who desire a lighter, more robust, and less expensive transmission.
While these transmissions are fairly reliable, they do have one common issue: the detents. The earlier models didn’t have a proper detent channel liner, and would begin to stick. This would cause common 5th gear lean (shift knob leaning towards 5th gear), as well as difficulty getting into the 5th gear and reverse gates.
This kit uses all Genuine BMW parts, which includes new upgraded liners that have a reduced friction material.
Also included are all new detents, springs, caps, and snap rings. Everything needed to upgrade gears 1-5 and reverse.
Installation notes: requires transmission removed from car and special drift installation tools.
