MSW E36 & E46 Rear Shock Mount Reinforcements

The MSW RSR’s are installed on the inside of your car.  All interior plastic, carpet, and sound insulation need to be removed from the trunk area first.  You must also have your rear shocks removed and any wiring safely pulled out of the way.

1. Mark the area on the rear shock mounting area where the reinforcements will be installed.
2. Clean all paint, seam sealer, etc away from the area using a wire wheel or other appropriate means
3. Clean the surface of both the plates and chassis with Acetone, ensure no surface rust is present.  You may choose to use a weld-through primer at this point.
4. Using a pair of bolts and nuts, position the reinforcement in place.  
5. Stitch weld around the perimeter of the main plate.
6. Hammer the “finger” tabs down so that they conform to the contour of the chassis.
7. Weld the tabs into place.
8. Clean up any weld spatter, burnt paint, etc.
9. Paint / Rustproof area, do not forget to do the same from the wheel well side as well.
10. Reinstall your rear shocks.
