MSW’s Take: We didn’t use to consider this a weak area on the E36 and E46 platform…. until we had a catastrophic failure of our front subframe during an endurance race at VIR. As these cars get older, the metal begins to fatigue. Race and track abuse, and especially impacts, will rapidly deteriorate the remaining strength of the front subframes.
Our front subframe reinforcement adds much needed strength to inner ball joint seats. These cone shaped steel sleeves are what your front control arm attaches to and take the brunt of lateral loads, impacts, and weight transfer on the front end of the car. They are simply welded into the rather thin metal of the stock front subframe. Give enough abuse, they can simply tear out of the subframe.
Unlike some other designs on the market, our kit is pre-bent, with a left and right side component.
Made from 11 gauge (1/8″) mild steel.
Requires grinding and welding, professional installation recommended.
Designed and produced by MSW.
Includes a unique left and right bottom plate, and two interchangeable top plates.
Applications: All E46, E85/86 Z4, and M3 E36. May also work on non-M E36, but we have not confirmed fitment yet.
