These mounts have been superseded by our much improved, MSW Enhanced Engine Mounts.
MSW’s Take: Over the years we’ve tried all types of engine mounts on our race cars, from solid aluminum to stock mounts. What we’ve found is that the engine and trans needs a little room to move. Solid aluminum (or Delrin or UHMW or stiff poly mounts) give a nice crisp throttle response but have drawbacks. We’ve found that rough off track excursions or even hitting a curb too hard can crack the aluminum mount arms and transmission crossmember, or even worse the transmission casing mounts. They become a liability, especially in endurance racing where long periods of stress can lead to cracks.
The stock engine and transmission in BMWs was never meant to be a stressed member. No mater how stiff your chassis and cage, there will be some flex. Something has to give and this is typically the cast aluminum of the engine arms, transmission ears, or transmission crossmember. And poly mounts typically become brittle and crack with time. We ran these Vibra-Tecnhics mounts through the 25hr of Thunderhill and many other endurance races and were pleased with the results. We’ve now started putting them on our SpecE46 sprint race cars.
Compatible with chassis mounted shifters, such as the Kinematic Speed Race Shifter.
We recommend pairing with the Rogue Engineering solid rubber transmission mount.
NOTE: You must install the factory right side engine mount heat shield, just like stock. These are rubber mounts and must be shielded from the high heat of the headers.
Price is for 2 mounts (one car set)
